Respite for Older Carers
Our "Respite for Older Carers" program offers much-needed respite for parents aged 60 and over who care for their son or daughter with a disability.
It offers respite breaks of up to 24 hours each month. Respite care can take place in your home or out and about in the community, and can include weekends away or holidays.
You are eligible if:
- You are a carer aged 60 years or over (or indigenous carer 50 years or over)
- You receive the Carer Allowance
- Your son or daughter is 25 years or over
- Your son or daughter receives the Disability Support Pension
Our staff are happy to assist if you need help in applying for the Carer Allowance or Disability Support Pension.
