Ageing Carers Initiative

Sheree and her parents Anne and Tom enjoy a cuppa in her new flat. The Ageing Carers Initiative is available to elderly carers throughout the Loddon Mallee Region.

In conjunction with Bendigo Health and other agencies across the region, we work with older people who are caring for a person with a disability.

If you are worried about what might happen to your adult child once you can no longer care for them, this program is for you.

We work with families and the person with a disability to find short-term solutions, such as respite, and long-term solutions, such as supported accommodation or development of independent living skills.

Project staff also train planners who can work with families on this approach.

Eligibility: Parents and carers over 65 years in the Loddon Mallee region caring for a child with a disability at home (over 45 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families).

Cost: Free
